[Staff Contest] Spellathon 2016
RANKINGS 1st Place: 135pts Altios (#540) 2nd Place: 101pts SpeedXaaa (#6617) 3rd Place: 7pts dragonmaster80 (#414) 4th Place: 1pts hawkscar (#5838) recieved. experince. dicsuss. What do these words have in common? It shouldn't be hard to figure out that, they all are horribly misspelled. Unfortunately, TPK is known for having these misspellings all over the game, but its time to change that, with your help! Spellathon is about fixing minor issues in TPK, while themed around spelling errors, it can be really just about any minor detail. Spellathon is going to be a yearly contest on TPK at the beginning of the year, almost like a new years resolution to a better game. To enter, simply compile a list of errors and submit them as a post to this thread. I will edit your post as I fix them, and award points to the first person to point out the error. If there isn't an error, or your rewrite isn't any better than what is there originally, no points will be awarded. If you are the last poster, you may edit new errors in, but otherwise don't edit your posts. Any official linked part of TPK can be searched. Any of the main pages obviously, but also Scyther commands, F.A.Q., boards, footer links, and TPK Tools. For now the WiKingdom will be excluded, unless there is interest in including it in the contest. Points: 1: Spelling/Grammar mistake 1: Broken Image or 404 Link 3: Rewrite of a success/error message for clarity 5+: Rewriting text in game (Depends on how long/clear it is) 10: Great idea for a layout change on any pages. (This has to be really good for me to accept it) The final judgement call for points is me, these are guidelines. Submitting: Don't use the color yellow, I will be responding to each submission in yellow. Be clear about where to find your piece of text. here's an example:
Prizes: (May change) 1st: SpiritCaterpie M (Level: 43) + $1,500,000 per Point Earned 2nd: ForestAerodactyl F (Level: 5) + $1,500,000 per Point Earned 3rd: SoullessDratini M (Level: 9) + $1,500,000 per Point Earned Any other: $1,500,000 per Point Earned (1st/2nd place may choose a lower prize if wished.) You may ask any questions about the contest in this thread before you begin, or ask me in chats. Grammar <censored>s Away, ~B0sh |

RE: [Staff Contest] Spellathon 2016
Here's just some minor fixes as I find them. Some of them are so minor they're trivial, therefore I don't really expect to get anything out of some of them (i.e.: one punctuation error in one paragraph), but I feel like every little bit of help counts. I'll bold and color reed what the fix(es) is/are. Things that are in green I feel are a little unclear and may need more clarification as to what you mean. RPG Rules #1 Profanity: Any inappropriate language and more 'mature' topics will not be tolerated on TPK. This includes, but is not limited to: curse words and any topic that would not be considered child- friendly[/color]. Self-censoring curse words and the use of abbreviated curse words is also prohibited. This extends to any images and videos linked to or posted on the site. +3 B0sh #2 Spamming: Spamming in any part of the site is not allowed. Spam includes, but is not limited to: posting the same message over and over, using excessive amounts of the same character, or other "stupid, pointless, annoying messages."[/color] +2 B0sh #3 Cheating: Cheating is not allowed in any form on TPK. This includes, but is not limited to: the use of third party programs, stylish, zooming in and out of the page, abusing glitches, mouse scroll battling, auto clicking, and scamming other users. Any action that gives you an unfair advantage in any part of the game will be considered cheating. +4 B0sh #8 Advertising: Do not advertise 'competing' RPGs in any way on TPK. Using any form of offical TPK communication to promote or refer other users to another website will result in a ban. This includes direct links to implying that users should play another game. If you are unsure as to whether a link will be considered adversting, ask a staff member. +4 B0sh (^I removed the quotations on "competing" here. Among other things.^) |

Chat Rules #4 Banned Content: Do not have conversations on controversial subjects. Time has proven that even logical level-headed debates are not possible here. This includes, but is not limited to: religions and politics.[/b] Do not have conversations about sexual or suggestive topics. Do not have drug or alcohol-[/b]related conversations. +2 B0sh #5 Ban-Evading: If you are banned from the chat[/b], do not attempt to evade said ban.[/b] It will lead to an RPG-wide ban.[/b] +2 B0sh #6 Listen to the Staff: If a staff member ask you to do something, be respectful.[/b] Disobeying staff will lead to an RPG-wide IP ban.[/b] (If you feel that a moderator has asked you to do something unfair,[/b] contact Kratos or B0sh.) +2 B0sh #7 Advertising: Do not talk about, advertise, or link to other RPG sites.[/b] (Major games such as League of Legends and the like is acceptable.[/b]) +2 B0sh #8 Other Bans: Do not ask about other players'[/b] bans. Ask only the person who was banned (in private)[/b]. If they would like to share the reason,[/b] they will. +3 B0sh |

RE: [Staff Contest] Spellathon 2016
Forum Rules #2 Spamming: Do not spam. This includes posting irrelevant content in forums, abusing the BBCode system, posting the same content multiple times, and posting in threads with their last post dating 4 weeks earlier (or even later). +2 B0sh #3 Rule Breaking: Do not encourage any activity that breaks the rules. An example of this is posting exploits and showing off how to use them. You could also be temporarily banned from the forums and the RPG. +3 B0sh #7 Advertising: Do not advertise. Anything considered advertising will be deleted or edited out. If we feel necessary, you will be banned temporarily unless it is obvious an account was made purely for advertising[/b] (which results in a permanent ban). Talking about other Pokemon RPGs is also considered to be advertising. +2 B0sh Forum mistakes: *size tags don't seem to work. At least, highlighting and clicking don't work, anyhow. Neither does something such as "[size=5]This is text.[/size]" Maybe the size tags aren't fully implemented? Come to think of it, none of the drop-down tags seem to work. Font, Color, and Align also don't actually show the code in the post field when clicked. I haven't fixed this yet, but I see the problem This may not be the best place to suggest this, but while we're on the topic of the forums: quote tag buttons and/or spoiler tags / spoiler tag buttons would be really nice. c; i wanna do these, but thats a little down the line. B0sh It would also be nice to do something about certain characters on the forums. For instance, a lot of the time when editing a post, an apostrophe will be a certain combination of characters ("&*#", without the asterisk there). Gets a little annoying, especially since that shows in thread titles. fixed +3 B0sh And sorry, for some reason I have to separate my post into three posts because of this error message. I also can't get Soul Fragments for some odd reason. Already fixed B0sh ------------------- Edit: Sometimes on the map, you can find a "briefcase." I honestly didn't know what this did until Alpha mentioned that it probably meant I got more money. I looked at my money count, and surely enough, it did. Why not have an additional message when you find a briefcase? Such as, "You found a briefcase! There was $1,000,000 in the briefcase!" There was a message, but I went ahead and added a forced delay so you see it. Good idea +3 B0sh ---------------------------- "fainted" would probably be a better term. c; It's less harsh and more canon to the Pokemon games. ;p Very smart +1 B0sh ---------------------------- Any time I'm in any Team TPK tab, the tab is titled as "Soulless Machine. +1 B0sh |

Oh, a note on soul fragments, I can't seem to collect them normally either, but I found that after I press "collect soul fragments" I press the main soulless machine page and I am able to collect them Already been fixed - B0sh |

RE: [Staff Contest] Spellathon 2016
5+: Rewriting text in game (continued) Soulless Machine: "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the infamous Soulless Machine, one of my greatest achievements! I am the previous head of Team Rocket's Science Team and my team and I have come up with something we didn't think possible! We developed a machine that literally rips a Pokémon's soul directly out of it's own body! It's an amazing feat, but we currently don't have a use for the Pokémon's souls yet. All we know is that the souls of these Pokémon have an extraordinary power, and that Pokémon without souls are far stronger than Pokémon that have souls! We believe that a Pokémon without a soul becomes ruthless, an unstopable terror with unimaginable power. My team and I are constantly working on and upgrading this machine as well. We hope you enjoy this non-charity program! So now you want to use this machine, don't you? All you have to do is supply the pokemon that we're extracting the soul from, pay a fine price of $500,000, and provide 7 Soul Fragments! But unfortunately, my precious machine only has a 25% chance of working so you'll have to pay an addition $500,000 for each of your attempts! If it fails, you will not get a refund on your money, but thankfully your Soul Fragments will not be used. When you extract a Pokémon, you can try for a new one, but the price will continue to increase. The Pokémon we are extracting the souls from will change on the 1st and the 15th of every month." Welcome! This contraption in front of me is none other than the fabled Soulless Machine. This machine will harmlessly extract the soul from a Pokémon's body. When a Pokémon becomes Soulless, it will become stronger than when its previous form that had a soul. We only extract two different Pokémon each month, so be sure to check in on the 1st and 15th of each month to see if you can get your hands on your very own Soulless Pokémon! There is a small $500,000 fee to extract a soul. The machine has a 25% success rate, so you may have to attempt more than once. Each additional attempt will be increased by $500,000. You will also need 7 Soul Fragments for the machine to work properly. You can obtain these fragments by donating Pokémon to me. I will be looking for a specific type of Pokémon each day, and I do not accept Pokémon purchased from shops. +10 B0sh Clan Donations: "For those who want to contribute to their clan without donating automatically can set an individual clan tax." If you would like to contribute to your clan without manually donating, you can set an individual clan tax here. +5 B0sh Referrals: "Simply handing out the link below to family or friends can fetch yourself Referral points to purchase the prizes below aswell however there is conditions before earning a point the newly registered member must play for at least 1 Hour (Playtime) to earn one the point, after Trainer Level 8 any earned Trainer Level will gain a point aswell." It's as simple as telling your friends or family about the game. Whenever somebody registers an account using your referral link and plays for at least an hour, you will earn a referral point. If a person you refer reaches Trainer Level 8, you will earn an extra referral point for each additional Trainer Level they get to. +5 B0sh Report User: "If you have a rule infringement to report, using this form you can direct the attention of a staff member to that person. Do not take this form lightly. Please include any and all relevant information about the report as possible. We may contact you if questions are needed, but only if necesarry." If you believe that someone has broken one or more rules, you may use this form to send a report. This will allow staff members to keep an eye on that person and try to figure out what's going on. However, abusing this form could potentially get yourself in trouble, so be smart when submitting a report. Please provide as much information as possible about the report. You may be contacted by staff if further questions are needed, but only if necessary. +5 B0sh TPK Chat: "Rules of the RPG continute to apply though, things said in TeamSpeak can get you banned. If you have any questions please consult a staff member." The rules of the RPG still apply, however, so be aware that things said in TeamSpeak can still dish out consequences. If you have any questions, feel free to ask a staff member. +4 B0sh Team Machinery: "EXP. Packets are Team Rocket's latest invention. EXP. Packets when equipped to a Pokémon work as an EXP. Share in battle. Half of the EXP. Points go to your Pokémon and the other half goes into your EXP. Packet. When you want to transfer the EXP. Points into a Pokémon, equip the EXP. Packet onto that Pokémon and return to this machine. We charge a fee of $2,000 for every 1,000,000 EXP. Points transfered up to $5,000,000. Once the EXP. Packet is drained, it will be returned to be filled again." EXP. Packets are Team TPK|Rocket's newest breakthrough in technology. When equipped to your starting Pokémon, it behaves like an EXP. Share. Half of the EXP. Points go to the starting Pokémon, while the other half is poured into the packet. The EXP. Points that have been put into the packet can be transferred at a price of $2,000 per 1,000,000 EXP. Points. These packets are reusable, so you won't have to keep buying more. +8 B0sh Team Machinery: "As you rank up in Team Rocket you can upgrade your EXP. Packets beyond the original capacity of 500,000,000 EXP. Points. Each Packet Upgrade will increase your EXP. Packet's max capacity by an additional 500,000,000 EXP. Points. Each upgrade will get progressively more and more costly. The benefits are that you do not need as many packets to carry around a large amount of EXP. Points." As you climb the ranks of Team TPK|Rocket, you will be able to upgrade the capacity of your EXP. Packets. Each upgrade will increase the max capacity of your packet by 500,000,000 EXP. Points. However, the price of each upgrade will also go up. +5 B0sh 7

Here's some more FAQ rewrites, adding onto dm's corrections. Up top is the original paragraph and the bottom is the revised. Apologies for lack of formatting. On mobile. It's a fairly simple process, all you need to do is explore a bit on the maps until you encounter a Pokémon. Once one shows up, you'll have the option to catch, battle, release, or run away from it. It's a fairly simple process. Simply explore any of the available maps to encounter a Pokémon. Once one shows up, you'll have the option to catch, battle, release, or run away from it. Catching, battling, and fleeing are fairly self-explanatory; when you release a Pokemon, you literally catch and release it back into the wild. RE: [Staff Contest] Spellathon 2016
Captcha Minigame: Under the minigames tab, the Captcha Game is labelled as the "Capatcha Game." This is actually intentional B0sh "possble" should be "possible" +1 B0sh "Costs your entire streak" to "will cost your entire streak." +1 B0sh ------------ Memory Game: "where they went" to "where they are" +1 B0sh ------------- TPK Speedrun: "built in" to "built-in" +1 B0sh "where players" to "in which players" +1 B0sh "every time you try restart your speedrun" to "every time you restart your speedrun" +1 B0sh ---------- I have no screenshot, but when I received a shiny Plusle for redeeming an achievement (sadly I can't remember which one), it shows a normal-colored Plusle sprite. The Shiny/Normal Plusle sprites look almost identical, I checked out the code and I don't think this is possible. B0sh --------- Clan Invites: "Clan Listings" to "Clan Listings page". Also shouldn't it be "Clan Listing" since it's singular? There's really only one listing, after all. +1 B0sh ---------- Clan Showdowns Experience in the game, you earn your clan's base showdown score. I don't really understand what is meant by "you earn your clan's base showdown score." Maybe it needs some clarification or better wording? Or maybe it's just me. Maybe "you earn points equal to your clan's base showdown score" or something. Each clan's base showdown score is 1 divided by the amount of active members in the clan in order to give each size clan a fair competition. Clans that have less than 5 members will be treated as having 5 members. Clan members who have not contributed to the current showdown will not be contributed to the clan member count. At the end of the week, the top 3 clans with the most Showdown Score wins these prizes. The very top clan will recieve a winner handicap of .7x for the next round. If that clan loses, they will lose one handicap until back to normal. Each clan's base showdown score is 1 divided by the number of active members in the clan. This is in order to give each clan a fair chance, despite the clan's size. Clans that have less than 5 members will be treated as having 5 members. Clan members who have not contributed to the current showdoen will not be added to the clan member count. At the end of the week, the top 3 clans with the highest Showdown Score win the prize(s) listed to the left. The clan in 1st place will also receive a winner handicap of x7 for the next round. [winner's handicap? What does this do? Maybe clarify this.] If that clan loses, they will lose a handicap until back to normal. [again, this is strange wording. What is meant by "back to normal"?] I went through and added a lot here, but thanks for pointing out what was confusing here. +8 B0sh ------------ Edit: nevermind the one Referrals paragraph, seems I didn't notice that Altios covered it. |
