TPK Blue is disabled for today as a result of the update. More info below.

Hey TPK, welcome back to the Showdown Show.

Jokes aside, we do have a major update and announcement today! After a little over three years, TPK Blue has been explored to great depths and we're happy to reminisce over the memories that have been made. However, after many debates on how to resolve the training "meta" from being stale and overall making Pokémon training feel irrelevant, we decided that the best solution would be to have a game reset. This new version has been dubbed...

TPK Classic
As the name might suggest, this version will focus on giving a more classic or retro feel to the game, versus some of the more modern developments that we have had with TPK Blue. The core features will be simplified to some degree and will alter how you play the game. Here are some examples:

Battles
Right off the bat, the battle system is addressed by reverting the EXP formula to how it was in TPK Green and removal of self-KO moves. Levels are obtained at a much faster pace this way, and you won't be instantly winning the battle anymore unless you can OHKO the Pokémon.

Maps
While the map engine was nice, we've been having lots of random issues that seem to spring out of nowhere-- especially for new players-- and are unable to figure out where the problem lies. In the transition to click-only maps, we wanted to give a nod to how the older versions of Pokémon RPGs were played by keeping the maps simple.

Mining
We wanted to try something new in TPK Blue by introducing Ore Modifiers, but it was a very confusing concept to most players and overall didn't really make sense. As such, we have reverted the modifiers to all be 1.0, which was the standard before (think Palladium ore rates). 20 ores was also quite ambitious of us, so we have reduced it down to 12 and added some new minerals to mine!

Smelting
Smelting was always a gamble for how many bars you gained or lost, so we have replaced the feature with a more proper gambling system, the Betting Minigame. Check it out sometime!

Secret Dungeon
At long last, the secret dungeon overhaul that was in the works is finally finished. Most of the changes are internal but should overall increase performance, as well as tack on a fresh coat of paint on the graphics!

There's many more changes, but we'll leave them up to you for exploring!

TPK Blue Deprecation
While this is going to be the new primary server, we will do the same with TPK Blue as we did with TPK Green; maintain it without updates until it becomes unstable and cannot live on its own anymore. All development will go into TPK Classic starting today (although this has been the primary focus for months now anyways.) Chaterpie will not be added in the new version, as we have more accessible means to communicate like Discord.

EXP. Boost
To celebrate the new version, we will be having a sitewide 2x EXP. Boost for the whole day! With lockdowns in place, there will be plenty of time to hunker down and begin your grind, so don't let it go to waste!

That's all for now. We have more updates in the oven, waiting to be released, stay tuned for those in the coming days. And as always, have a TPK day! ~Altios
