they work the same way as in the games... each pokemon has IV (individual values) from 0 to 31 in each stat, these are randomly generated when you encounter the pokemon. EVs (effort values) are points you get from defeating another pokemon. Each pokemon gives a certain type and amount of EVs. You can get 510 EVs max on a pokemon, being that you can't go over 252 in one particular stat. For how these affect the pokemon stats, I don't know if it's the same as the game, but if it is, the difference between 0 and 31 IVs is 31 points in the stat at level 100, while each 4 EVs in a stat increase the base value of the stat by 1. So yeah, it's not the best explanation, but I hope it cleared your doubts EvilSun's Black Market
