April 13th, 2019 12:40 PMTime for the Announcement
Hey TPK,

Today I have good news and bad news.

It's Coming

Let's start with the good news. We have a release date for the new map engine. May 1st, 2019. The end is truly in sight for this project that was started 5 months ago. In case you aren't familiar with the benefits of the new map engine:

* Mobile mode touch support & Layout
* A Quest Book for tracking quests
* Fighting Pokemon without refreshing the page
* Easier map sound options
* Smoother map animations
* Faster & easier map creation
* Easier for me to code new features
* 3 new glitch maps (to test the new map making process)

I hope you all are as excited for this as I am!

Goodbye TPK Green

The bad news is that we've decided to close TPK Green. New players -- and even some current players, are continuing to get confused about what TPK Green is to the community for the past couple of years. My goal with keeping Green alive was to allow people to go back and look back at their past history in TPK. But this has proved to be challenging as bugs in that server continue to creep up, and pulling the plug will allow me to move forward faster with TPK Blue. Green will be shutdown along with the release of the map engine, so you have the next 2 weeks to go back in time and check out what was once the flagship version of TPK.

Also, the live map system won't make its way into the new map engine. It was fun as a demo, but it wasn't able to be ported over to work with the new system without completely redoing it from the ground up. It also frequently crashed, and at this point if I was to do it again I'd be looking to use a new system.
